The US Scripps National Spelling Bee ended in a tie on Thursday night, with Jairam Hathwar from New York and Nihar Janga from Texas declared co-champions after a roller-coaster finish. The contest ended in a tie after 39 rounds of competition. Jairam spelt final word Feldenkrais correctly and Nihar ‘gesellschaft’. For the third year in a row, the Scripps National Spelling Bee has ended with two champions.
