Controversy is brewing over International Yoga Day with the Narendra Modi government being accused of pushing its Hindutva agenda by asking participants to chant vedic mantras and Om before the 45-minute session. Congress leader PC Chacko said that the Central government should make all citizens comfortable to practice yoga. JD(U) leader KC Tyagi opposed the Centre’s decision to make yoga must for everyone. A Muslim cleric said it is not right to impose yoga on citizens in a country with different religions.
