Handloom weavers find solar power to be economical as well as easy to use while making yarn. A weavers' society in Srikakulam has been using solar power to run Charkas. The weavers said that they are able produce more reels of yarn, with less physical energy and were earning more. They urged the government to give them solar energy panels at subsidised rates so that it would help them in boost production as well as revenue.
