While customers are gleeful over the drastic fall in onion price to Rs. 3-a-kg, distressed farmers deplore that they are not getting even transport charges. Farmers, who are agitating in almost all Rythu Bazars including Rangareddy district, urged the government to give them a remunerative price. Remember onion prices had soared to Rs. 70-a-kg, during the last quarter of 2015. Farmers expecting to make a good buck, cultivated onions extensively. To their disappointment, the price fell to the lowest in the past thirty years.
