An earthquake measuring 7 on the richter scale struck at remote Kamchatka, in far eastern Russia, on the Pacific coast, this morning. According to US Geological Survey, the quake hit 106 km north of Petropavlovsk Kamchatskiy, the capital city of Kamchatka region. No immediate serious damage or causalities were reported. Shortly afterwards, there was an aftershock of 5 on the richter scale.
