Activists of the Communist Party of India (CPI) staged a dharna, in front of the US Consulate in Begumpet, protesting against the revoking of Telugu students by US immigration officials. Condemning it as the most drastic action, CPI leader Narayana demanded that each of the students should be given Rs. 1 crore compensation for the humiliation they faced. The agitators, including Naryana, were arrested.
