Superintendent of Police Salwinder Singh was the first to encounter the terrorists, when he and his friend were driving on the fateful night. The terrorists were well prepared and well armed, he said. There were five of them and he alone was unable to tackle them, he added. He was first taken hostage and later left in a jungle, from where he escaped and informed the police. The terrorists grabbed his two cell phones.
