22 Telugu students from New York and 18 Telugu students from Seattle were deported by US immigration officials. The students, who returned home said that the officials were using threatening tone and language towards Indian students, especially those from the Telugu states. It is definitely a biased attitude towards Indian students in general and Telugus in particular, the students asserted. They said that they spent over Rs. 2 lakhs for their trip. Despite producing relevant certificates, the immigration officials were not convinced about the universities they had selected for their studies. The students and their parents have urged the government to intervene.
