The Tamil Nadu government intensified its relief works with water receding in several colonies in Chennai and other parts of the state. Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Monday announced compensation of Rs 10,000 for those who lost huts and 10-kg rice. She also announced construction of pucca houses, who lost their huts. In a meeting, Jayalalithaa has taken a decision to sanction Rs 5,000 for the flood-hit victims living in permanent houses.
