Brisk voting is underway in Myanmar today. Political analysts considered it as the freest elections in several decades. Scores of people were not granted voting rights. Elections were cancelled in some areas dominated by insurgents. According to sources, 25 per cent of the seats in the parliament are exclusively reserved for military personnel. The reserved seats will be filled with military rulers. Popular politician Aung San Suu Kyi was barred by constitution to contest for the president post.
