With the spiralling of red gram price, traders from Kurnool are importing red gram from Tanzania and selling it at Rs 90 per kg. While red gram from Tandur is being sold at Rs 200 per kg, middle and weaker sections are purchasing Tanzania red gram for lesser price. However, consumers say that Tanzania red gram has to be consumed within two hours of cooking otherwise it would be stale. People are requesting the State government to ensure enough stocks of red gram are available for lesser price and to clarify whether they can eat Tanzania red gram.
