TDP and BJP leaders became silent over the demand of creating separate railway zone for bifurcated Andhra Pradesh with Visakhapatnam as its headquarters. Both parties promised to set up new railway zone headquarters in Vizag during elections. People of Visakhapatnam have been protesting for so many years to separate Waltair division from East Coast Railway (ECR) and include it in South Central Railway. With state bifurcation, Vizag people expected that Vizag would become headquarters for new railway zone. Moreover, people are alleging that the ECR is not showing interest to run new trains from Vizag.
