The first phase of Bihar Assembly polls began on Monday. Voters in various regions queued outside the polling booths to cast their ballot. Over 1.35 crore people are expected to cast ballots at 12,686 polling stations spread over 10 districts to seal the fate of 583 candidates, including 54 women, for 49 seats of the 243-seat Bihar Assembly. Elaborate security arrangements are in place for the election, which will decide if the Maha Gathbandhan succeeds in overpowering the BJP-led NDA or not.
