Bakrid was celebrated among the soldiers of India and Pakistan sides of the Wagah border in Punjab by distributing sweets. Both the Indian and Pakistani soldiers greeted each other on the occasion. Earlier, for Independence Day and Ramzan, this year, sweets were not distributed. But for Bakrid, the tradition was revived with the Indians offering sweets and gifts to Pakistani army men.
