Dr Peter Gotzsche, the Director of the Nordic Cochrane Centre, alleged that pharma industry much worse than Somali pirates. He said Somali pirates may demand one million in their own currency for each hostage. But, pharmaceutical companies want one million dollars from each person every after year. Peter said drug development and marketing would be cheaper if it was a public enterprise. He stated that many doctors are knowingly or unknowingly being converted into industry sales representatives with the medical profession's intrinsic relationship with the pharmaceutical industry.
