Waters of the Musi river are toxic. Experts at Osmania University, who have done extensive research over this, have found out that the Musi waters are dense with metal content, coming from effluents. Worse is, the vegetables grown with these waters are also poisonous, with foul smell. Eating them may lead to cancer and kidney problems, they said. While locals are urging filters and water treatment plants, how far the government will respond remains to be seen.
