An Indian origin doctor, Anantamurthy, 'grew' outer ears on an 8-year-old boy, from Ohio, in the US, through a series of micro surgeries. The boy was born with a defect, bilateral atresia microtia, in which the out ears did not develop. As such, Anantamurthy, performed five surgeries, since the boy was a four-year-old and developed his outer ears, with rib cartilage. The final surgery was completed at Akron's Children's Hospital.
