An earthquake of moderate intensity, measuring 6.2 on rich scale rocked parts of northern India, including Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi and Punjab, for nearly nine seconds. Also the tremors were felt in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Kazakistan. The epi-centre was detected to be somewhere in Jammu and Kashmir. People ran out of the buildings and houses, while communications were cut off to some places.
