Two Express trains derailed at the same spot on a bridge, in Harda district of Madhya Pradesh, last night. Nearly 15 bogies of both trains, Kamayani and Janata Express, fell into the overflowing Maachak river. The culvert under the bridge gave way due to floods leading to the accidents. The official number of casualities has been put at 24. Locals rescued nearly 300 people. It took some time for other rescue teams to arrive as it was dark as well as it was raining heavily. The Railway authorities ordered an investigation into the accidents and announced an ex gratia to the families of the victims.
