It is a very big relief to the convicts of Rajiv Gandhi's assassination case as the Supreme Court on Wednesday has dismissed Centre's curative petition. The Apex Court has rejected death sentence of three convicts. Earlier, the mercy plea filed by the lawyers of convicts was rejected by the President and also by the Governor of Tamil Nadu. It is to be seen whether, with the said judgement of Supreme Court, the accused Santhan, Murugan and Perarivalan, who are currently lodged in the Central Prison, Vellore, will be free from jail or they will be undergoing life sentence.
