An unusual ritual of women getting stamped by 'Boothappas' is practised in Sri Lakhsmi Narasimha Swamy temple at Madakasira village in Anantapur district. The women believe that by doing this they will have children and chronic diseases will be cured. Men carrying swords and shields, walk over the women lying prostrate on the ground. Many devotees from Karnataka too visit the temple.
