Lifeguards appointed by the government to rescue pilgrims in trouble, during Godavari Pushkarams, are busy hunting for coins in the river. They tie magnets to fishing lines and drag them in the river. When pulled out, a number of coins, offered by pilgrims to the river Goddess, get stuck to the magnets. This way the lifeguards earn nearly Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 20,000 within these 12 days.
