Biometric system will be introduced in ration shops, to curb black marketing of essential goods. The biometric machines will be fixed in all ration shops in Greater Hyderabad by August 31. Civil Supplies Commisioner Rajat Kumar said that arrangements have already been made to implement the system. Reforms in the Public Distribution System (PDS) began when the government removed nearly 11 lakh bogus ration cards, fetching Rs. 200 crore to the treasury.
