Thermal power plants in several states would face closure with Centre?s new regulations. Centre asked states to operate power plants which have capacity to generate 600 to 800 MW power and shift others with lesser capacity to far away from human habitations. The government decided to increase the capacity of KTPS at Palvancha from 720 to 800 MW and sought Centre?s permission. It is learnt that Centre had informed TS government that it would give nod to new power projects if it closes old ones. The government asked Centre to relax certain regulations as it was facing power shortage.
