It is known world wide that for residents of Istanbul, the LGBTI (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) Pride Parade is a familiar sight. But during the Turkish city's 13th annual 2015 Gay Pride festival, attendees faced bitter experience as they were forcibly prevented from celebrating the festival. Police used water cannon and rubber bullets to disperse the crowds. The march was stopped before it started.
