The last date for the exchange of pre-2005 notes for new ones is June 30, the RBI announced. From July 1 these notes will no longer be valid. The notes can be exchanged in the nearest banks. It is easy to recognise the notes, as they will not have the year mentioned at the bottom on the reverse side of the note. The notes were not printed according to international standards and hence they are being withdrawn.
