Farmers in Ananthapur district are unable to draw their share of water from the Thungabhadra dam, leading to their fields drying up. By the time the water reaches the outskirts, it is only one fourth of what is actually assured to them. Officials said this is due to the silt in the canals carrying water to the district. Farmers deplored that the authorities were not supplying their quota of water.
