National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has recommended the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to begin probe against the Chittoor encounter case in Andhra Pradesh, where 20 alleged smugglers were killed. NHRC has also recommended Rs 5 lakhs compensation as interim relief to the family members of victims. NHRC team has alleged that Andhra Pradesh government has not provided the necessary evidence of the case. On the other hand, NHRC has requested Tamil Nadu government to provide protection to the witnesses.
