A moderate earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale hit the Andaman Island region at about 2.45 PM on Friday. The depth of the earthquake was measured as 10 km as per IMD. Reports of damage to properties or life have not been received so far. This earthquake has come at the wake of Nepal's earthquake in which more than 7000 people have been killed. These islands are the second most quake-prone region after the Pacific Ring of Fire.
