The popular temple festival of Kerela, Thrissur Pooram, was held in all its pomp and glory amidst controversies. Recently animal welfare organisations sent warning letters on using elephants for the procession during the festival. Actress Pamela Anderson also sent an e-mail to Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy to halt the use of elephants for the festival. However, the two centuries old popular temple festival in Kerala was held as thousands of people from far and near, including foreign tourists, witnessed the parade of 30 richly decorated elephants and performance.
