An elephant calf, trapped in an abandoned well, has been rescued by villagers and forestry officials in India. The officials were alerted to the forest range by the sound of distressed elephants. The calf fell accidentally in the well, when it was roaming with its mother and a herd of elephants. The locals dug a make shift slope in the ground towards the well and helped it walk out with the help of rope.
