In 1946 when his INA officers were put on trial, because being a man of honour Netaji would have surely returned to India. He would have offered himself to the British as their Supreme Commander. This would have been a political problem for the British. Later on he would have launched his own party, to whom the people would vote and make him PM after independence. Watch this interesting hypothesis. He would have avoided partition as well.
