Doctors at Ruia Hospital in Tirupati are performing the post-mortem on the bodies of the 20 smugglers/labourers from Tamil Nadu, who were encountered in Seshachalam forests. As some political forces and agitators are likely to protest and lay siege to the hospital, security has been tightened. Human rights activists allege that it is a planned encounter and the so-called smugglers are in fact poor woodcutters employed by organised gangs. The the encounter was condemned in Tamil Nadu, where many, including chief minister O Panneerselvam, said that innocent Tamils have been massacred.
