The government raised a record Rs 1.10 lakh crore from the sale of mobile phone airwaves in its latest telecom spectrum auction after 19 days of fierce bidding, triggering fears of hike in call and data rates. According to base rate the Government was to receive around Rs. 82000 crores but it amassed nearly Rs. 1.10 trillion worth bids, which is the highest so far in India. In 2010 Govt received RS. 1.06 lakh Crores and Rs. 30000 Crores from BSNL and MTNL. As per Supreme Court verdict Govt cannot reveal the company's name that got the spectrum allocated.
