Finally, breaking the ice ,Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif shook hand with each other. A brief meeting between the two leaders appears to have saved the SAARC summit with all eight countries securing a last-minute deal to create a regional electricity grid. Modi and Pakistan's Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif shook hands at the retreat. Until that point in the summit, the leaders of the two rival countries had ignored each other. Modi was seen clapping when Nawaz Sharif had finished his vote of thanks.
