The city of Hyderabad had a rich history of over 400 years. It is interesting to note that the city developed around Hussain Sagar and up to Osman Sagar over the years. The two water bodies were predominantly constructed for the purpose of drinking water supply to meet the needs of the city dwellers. Centuries have passed by and still they maintained the sanctity of quenching the thirst of the city people. But since about three decades, the city is seeing an unparalleled population boom. Accordingly, the economic demands and lacunae in planning have resulted in polluting these two drinking water bodies . . . . .
