Greater Visakha Municipal Corporation (GVMC), which has calculated the total loss left by cyclone Hudhud in Visakhapatnam, is itself facing severe financial crunch. It has spent Rs 10 Cr on the workers and people who came from different districts for relief measures. JCB and cranes and other machinery have been procured for immediate removal of trees and debris. Now after all this, there is no budget left with them to pay even salaries to employees. Employee Unions are demanding Rs.50000 Cr to be sanctioned immediately to save GVMC.
