A new scam has hit Japan's industry minister which caused her to resign. On the allegations that she spent political donations on make-up and other items unconnected to politics, Yuko Obuchi had to forego her ministry. She has been tipped to potentially become the country's first female prime minister and was a star minister becoming the country's first woman in charge of economy, trade and industry's powerful portfolio that includes oversight of the energy sector. But she is now facing claims that her political funding body spent more than 10 million yen (USD 95,000) on things unconnected to politics, including cosmetics and accessories at a department store.
