Heavy rains: CM directs officials to remain fully alert

Related image Hyderabad, Sept.12: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today directed the officials to remain fully alert as there was a chance of heavy rainfall in the State in the next five days.

The Chief Minister spoke to Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma and Revenue special principal secretary Pradeep Chandra on Monday on the issue. He asked them to alert the officials across the State to take precautionary measures. The Chief Minister also spoke to GHMC Commissioner Janardhan Reddy and City Police Commissioner M. Mahender Reddy over the phone and asked them to take adequate steps in this regard.

The Chief Minister asked the police to gear up and plunge into relief works. He asked the officials to set up a control room at the Collectorates to get fresh information to react immediately. Revealing that the government had set up a State-level control room (040-23454088), the Chief Minister directed the officials to shift the people living in low-level areas to safer places.

Following the directions of the Chief Minister, Revenue special principal secretary Pradeep Chandra has spoken to District Collectors and asked them to convene District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) meetings immediately with the SPs.

He also directed the Collectors to shift the people, who were living in low-level areas, to safety places by identifying the areas to be affected by the rain much before. He also directed the Collectors to see that there should not be any problem of providing drinking water, power supply, and sanitary management at relief camps.

Pradeep Chandra suggested to the Health and Medical department to keep medicines and ambulances ready in advance for the emergency services. He informed the Collectors that the National Disaster Response Force, Army and Air Force services were ready to meet any challenge.

He asked the Discoms to see that there should not be any power short-circuits. He asked the Collectors to respond immediately by estimating the water levels at railway lines, low-level causeways and bridges. He also directed the Irrigation Department, VRAs and VAOs to check the condition of tank bunds in the rural areas.
