Autos to go off road from midnight: Union

Wed, Aug 31, 2016, 07:03 PM
Hyderabad, Aug.31: The Auto Driver Unions JAC here on Wednesday announced that the three-wheelers to go off the road from the midnight of September 1 in protest against the Union Government’s Road Safety Bill and demanding that the Telangana State government fix fares for Ola and Uber cabs on the lines of the Delhi State Government.

Speaking to media persons here on Wednesday, Auto Driver Unions JAC leader Mohd Amanullah Khan said a massive rally of auto drivers would be taken out on September 2 from the Sundaraiah Park to Indira Park at 11 am. Khan also disputed the contention of the Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari that hefty penalties for violations of Traffic and Transport rules would reduce the number of road accidents in the country. He opined that the increased penalties would only increase corruption in the Police and Transport departments.

Mohd Amanullah Khan opined if the Union government is serious about reducing the number of road accidents in the country, it should enforce total prohibition so that it would not only reduce road accidents but also reduce 80% of crimes.
