Related image Hyderabad, Aug.10: Even as a Division Bench of the Hyderabad High Court-ordered stay of the operation of the judgment of the single Judge quashing the G O No.123 relating to land acquisition for Irrigation projects, the main opposition Congress party in the State, today asserted that it would continue its fight till the G O was abolished.

Senior Congress leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Damodara Rajanarasimha, speaking to the media here stated that while the 2013 Land Acquisition Act was being implemented throughout the country, the Telangana State Government had brought in G O N0.123 only with an intention to cause loss to the farmers whose lands were being acquired for projects.

Rajanarasimha also made it clear that the Congress party was never against the Irrigation project, but it was opposed to loot of public exchequer in the name of re-designing of the projects. He said that the arrest of former Congress MLA of Sangareddy, Mr. Jaggareddy, by the police while he was proceeding to participate in and support the agitation being carried on by Mallannasagar land oustees at Sangareddy today.

Earlier in the day, Jaggareddy was arrested when he took out a rally from old Bus stand at Sangareddy and proceeding to organize Deeksha in support of Mallannasagar oustees. He, along with some other Congress leaders, was arrested when the rally reached the Town Police Station. Police officials said that permission was not given to Jaggareddy to organize indefinite Deeksha. District Library Authority chairman Anantha Kishen, and some NSUI leaders were also arrested.

It may be mentioned that the Hyderabad High Court had yesterday, stayed the verdict to the single Judge who had quashed the G O No.123, observing that the G O had taken away the benefits bestowed on the poor landless farmers whose lands were acquired, through 2013 Act.
