YCP flays Chandrababu over Delhi visit

Sat, Aug 06, 2016, 05:00 PM
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had mortgaged the self-respect of Telugu people in Delhi by announcing that he did not come to discuss the issue of Special Category Status, but had been there only to invite the President, the Prime Minister, the Union Ministers and the other dignitaries for the Krishna Pushkarams.

‘This clearly shows that Chandrababu Naidu has insulted the Telugu pride, a concept on which the TDP was formed, and made his intention of watering down the special status issue further down,’ party MLA Bhumana Karunakar Reddy told reporters in Hyderabad on Saturday.

The Chief Minister himself announcing in Delhi that he had come only to invite the dignitaries but not to discuss the special status is a severe blow to the self-respect of the Telugu people, as the majority of the political parties in the Rajya Sabha have supported the cause of Andhra Pradesh. He failed to pursue the issue further when he met the the Prime Minister and the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, among others.

When the Private Member Bill of KVP Ramachandra Rao was being sent to the Lok Sabha, TDP members were very indifferent and were not vociferous on the issue and the party stand was reflected in the Chief Minister’s remarks in Delhi.

Before going to Delhi, Chandrababu's talk had raised hopes of the people and they thought that he would broach the subject of special status and would mount pressure on materializing the assurance. But once in Delhi he had changed the tune and summing up his tour, he made it clear that he has come to give the invite only, but not to discuss about the special status to the surprise of one and all.

Back home, the uprooting of Gandhi statue and Ibrahimpatnam and throwing it into the water showed that he had no respect for the Father of the Nation, Bhumana said.

Statues of Gandhi and Gods are being removed indiscriminately and women are not safe under the TDP government, he added.
