Venkaiah rings up SOS to Modi on SCS

Mon, Aug 01, 2016, 05:47 PM
Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu is a past master at running with the hares and hunting with the hounds. On Thursday night, during the discussion on the KVP Ramachandra Rao Bill, he gave the impression that he didn't care much for the KVP Bill demanding Special Category Status for Andhra Pradesh, saying he was never elected from Andhra Pradesh anyway. If at all he had some regard, it was for Telangana, where he visited every gully.

On Monday, Venkaiah is said to have rang up Prime Minister Narendra Modi and warned him about the fall-out of the Rajya Sabha discussion and the growing hiatus between the TDP and the BJP, which was no good for the coalition and both the parties as well.

He is said to have reminded the Prime Minister that even the BJP had made promises to Andhra Pradesh about the SCS. He wanted implementation of the promises as far as possible. Therefore the Prime Minister should intervene and settle the matters.

While the truth of the matter and details are awaited, the BJP has recognised the dangers of voting in the Rajya Sabha on the KVP Bill, if it materialises. In such a case, the BJP is bound to bite the dust.
