YCP makes common cause with TDP on SCS demand

Mon, Aug 01, 2016, 12:49 PM
As decided, the YCP made a common cause with the TDP in Parliament on Monday to demand the promised Special Category Status for the State. As the TDP members, whose party is in alliance with the ruling BJP at the Centre, rushed to the Speaker's podium with placards demanding SCS for AP, YCP MPs joined them in the well of the House and made the same demand.

Speaker Sumitra Mahajan told them that placards were not allowed inside the House. The TDP MPs went out after registering their protest and with a closed Lok Sabha door behind them vociferously continued to voice their SCS demand.

Normally, the YCP and the ruling TDP in the State are at loggerheads. But when the State's interests were at stake, with the ruling BJP leaving them in the lurch with no capital worth the name and backwardness prevailing in North Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema, they came together symbolically in Parliament to voice the promised SCS demand implementation.
