Thu, Jul 21, 2016, 07:41 PM
Hyderabad, July 21: Launching the long-ending lift irrigation project at Nettempadu second lift works at Jurala in Mahbubnagar district, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today claimed that the TRS Government has rewritten the history of Palamur and vowed to mitigate the problems pertaining to irrigation by supplying waters to 8.5 lakh acres by next Kharif season. As the TRS government was supplying water for irrigation to farmers, the jealous Opposition parties were getting tears in their eyes, he ridiculed.

The Opposition made tall claims and ended up by supplying waters to irrigate only 3,000 acres in the region while the TRS Government aims to irrigate 10 lakh acres in the district, including 4.5 lakh with the lift works began, he said. “This is the time to turn green the parched lands of Palamur and people migrated should get back}, he said. Expressing happiness saying that he was lucky to release irrigation waters through the lift, Harish said the government was making all efforts to supply waters for three crops a year in the district.

Harish also lashed out at the Opposition for hatching conspiracies and making baseless criticism. He said the government was spending crores of funds to complete the projects on a war-footing. Harish alleged that the successive governments deliberately deceived Palamur district and ministers from Telangana could not press them for their rightful share of waters. He said the Supreme Court gave a verdict in favour of Telangana seeking justice, he said.

As part of giving waters to one crore acres, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was making efforts and giving irrigation waters to Palamur, he claimed. He sought to know whether the previous governments gave waters to crops as they promised. He also fumed at the Opposition for making baseless allegations on the projects that were left incomplete during their regime due to lack of commitment. The people of the district have the right first and the government is to supply irrigation waters to 4.5 lakh acres this season, he said. With the completion of Jurala phase II works, water can be shifted to Kothakota phase II through Tirumalapur phase I to irrigate one lakh acres. “The women and girls need not move on roads for fetching drinking water as the government was implementing Mission Bhagiratha program to provide them potable waters at their houses by next Summer” he said.

Ministers Jupally Krishna Rao, Dr C Lakshma Reddy, MP Jithender Reddy and MLA Srinivas Goud and officials were present.
