Assembly, council leaders foster green drive

Giving a push to the ongoing Haritha Haram program across the state, Speaker S. Madhusudhana Chary, Deputy Speaker Padma Devender Reddy, Council Chairman Swamy Goud on Tuesday participated in the green drive at various places in the city.

Speaking on the occasion, Chary stated that trees are life for mankind and its progress. Since the greenery gives us life and better environment sans pollution, for our bright future our ancestors encouraged plantation drive.

Expressing satisfaction at the huge turnout of the people, the speaker said that it is time for protecting the saplings after the plantation drive.

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has a plan to increase forest cover to 33 per cent through green drive to receive abundant rains during the Monsoon, he said.

Earlier, they planted saplings at Assembly and Council premises after doing so at Adarshnagar. Swamy Goud, Madhusudhana Chary, Padma Reddy and Assembly Secretary Raja Sadaram planted saplings and poured waters on them.

Government Whip G Sunitha, council deputy chairman N Vidyasagar Rao, N Lakshman Rao, P Sudhakar Reddy, Stephenson, MLAs, MLCs of the ruling party and also BJP leaders G Kishan Reddy, Chintala Ramachandra Reddy and Congress leaders P Sudhakar Reddy and others attended the green drive.
