Scientist finds urban-rural divide among birds

Tue, Jul 19, 2016, 05:10 PM
There is a clear urban-rural divide among the birds also. Urban-borne birds are jumpy as compared to the cool of rural birds.

Virginia University Professor Scott Davies in the US is conducting a research on birds' traits in urban and rural settings. He found a noticeable difference in the shrillness in bird song in rural and urban areas. This led him to conduct the research.

The ornithologist found urban birds more angry and more jumpy than their rural counterparts.

While urban areas are wider, room for bird-nesting is smaller. Comparatively, village birds enjoy a lot of freedom, and are hence peaceful.

These characteristics create different profiles of rural and urban birds.

What got the interest of the study by the scientist was sparrows' twitter.
