BTech lad contacts live wire chatting away on his mobile, electrocuted

Sat, Jul 16, 2016, 11:09 AM
The ubiquitous cell phone or mobile can take one into another world and, sometimes, the other world also. In a tragic incident at Vanasthalipuram in Hyderabad, a BTech studying youth simply lost awareness of the surroundings while chatting on the terrace of his home and touched the current wires of the street overnight.

As he was electrocuted, the family rushed the youth to a hospital immediately in the night. The unfortunate youth succumbed to the shock this morning.

People jaywalk on the railway tracks merrily forgetting what they are doing just by holding the mobile and chatting away. The railway authorities are occasionally presenting such people before the magistrate. The railway tracks on which trains are running at Rajdhani speeds will not allow jaywalkers that too speaking on cell phones.

Traffic police on roads are also watching for people chatting away on their mobiles, although the law is strictly against it.

Let's take the Vanasthalipuram case, couldn't the electricity authorities have insulated the current wires by putting on a covering available with them and collecting the cost from the house-owner?
