Killing wailing Wani is vain act

Thu, Jul 14, 2016, 02:36 PM
Burhan Wani sporting fancy guns and rifles, like those used by the American Gis, became a poster boy of the Kashmir's militancy. The truth, however, is what Pakistanis always believed that the Kashmiris are good in the arts and nothing much on the heroics front.

So when the Indian security forces cornered Burhan Wani along with three others in Anantnag recently, at the mere sound of security forces boots, the poster boy holding smart guns, instead of using them, wailed at the top of his voice. So it was a short work for the security forces.

Here comes the question. When Wani wailed, was it necessary to kill the so-called militant, although he may have killed security forces in hit-and-run cowardly attacks? The wailing Wani could have been spared even in the Anantnag situation.

It is for the security forces to explain the Wani killing. Who were the other three militants with Wani? Were they Indian or Pakistani? But to kill a wailing Wani is no great act. `Defence News' website, hopefully, comes out with the details of the Anantnag encounter.
