Lion shepherds the flock in Dagestan

Tue, Jul 12, 2016, 03:44 PM
Even the lions in the revolutionary Russia are tamed. In Dagestan in Georgia, the people dress like the Afghans, sport daggers on their dress, but are a tamed lot. So are the lions, at least the tamed one.

A farmer in Dagestan, Barembek Rahimov, sends his sheep flock to the forests for grazing with a lion shepherding the flock. The lion protects the flock in the forest from wild animals and brings them back safe.

Rahimov received the lion as a cub present from a friend. He domesticated the cub and tamed it. Now a full grown lion, it shepherds the flock for its master.

Farmer Rahimov named the cub Masha, after the popular Russian cartoon film, Masha and the Bear.
